C. 28782 Christine Fitch Director Talks About 'Fiddler' Christine Filch, well known singer, dramatic actress, direc tor, and choreographer, is directing the Tryon Little The ater production of "Fiddler on the Roof," which opens at the Fine Arts Center tonight. Although this is her first assignment as director for TLT, she has had much experience as a director for other organiza tions, notably the Barn Door in Landrum and the Tryon Youth Center. Christine last appeared with TLT as Eleanor of' Aqui taine in the splendid production of "The Lion in Winter," directed by Marianne Brown last March. Her other play credits with TLT include "Per fect Pitch," "Pygmalion," "Something's Afoot," and "High (Continued On Back Page) THURSDAY, SEPT. 26,1991 Long Leaves Calvary Church On Aug. 11, Rev. Curtis Long gave his resignation as pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, Lan drum. His last service was the morning of Sept. 15. Rev. Tim Jones from Green ville, S.C. will be preaching Sunday, Sept. 29, and Rev. Waldo K. Mullins, a former pastor from Doraville, Ga., will be preaching Oct. 6. On Oct. 13 Rev. Wayne Hembree, a former pastor from Hendersonville, will be preaching Calvary's 43rd Homecoming service. The Homecoming Dinner will fol low at 1 p.m., and afternoon Song Service at 2:30 p.m. with several out of town visitors. —Community Reporter Buys Home Joe and Ouida George of Roebuck, S.C. have purchased a home and three acres from Gladys A. Smith on Houston Road in Columbus. Joe is in the business of trans porting cars for different auto mobile companies, and Ouida is an artist and enjoys flower gar dening. Howe Howe To Induct Rotary Fellows Tire Tryon Rotary program on Monday, Sept. 30 will be hon ored by the presence of Dr. Richard Davis Howe, past Dis trict Governor of Rotary Dis trict 767, who is now Chairman of the Rotary Foundation, Dis trict 767. Doctor Howe is a Professor of Leadership and Higher Educa tion at Appalachian State Uni versity, also Director of the Office of Equal Opportunity programs. He is the author or editor of some 80 books. Dr. Howe will speak to the Tryon Rotary on the purpose and function of the Rotary Foundation Fund which sup ports the Rotary Foundation, a non profit corporation providing world wide humanitarian grants to needy peoples and worthy (Continued On Back Page)
